G’day from the Bureau with your national weather forecast around the country for Friday, the 12th of September. And there's been a lot of weather around the country this week. But thankfully, by Friday, this large, high pressure system will be bringing fine conditions to the entire country. As this low in the Tasman Sea moves further away.
We may see some coastal showers along parts of New South Wales and Queensland, and quite a few showers as well through Tasmania and also parts of Victoria. But notice elsewhere fine dry and sunny weather right across the country, though cooler conditions will be moving up into inland parts of eastern and central parts of the country thanks to those southerly winds. And on the other side of the high will see northerly winds, increasing temperatures through parts of Western Australia. So let's have a look at all of this in more detail.
Firstly, the Sunshine State and you can see here sunshine returning to much of the state. We could see some partly cloudy conditions that are right along our coastal areas. And maybe just the odd puff of cloud inland as well. Temperatures pretty mild to warm for this time of year. Cooler in the south. You can see through here into the high teens to low twenties, but much warmer along the coast with temperatures in the mid to high twenties and even getting up into the thirties across northern parts of Queensland, could be a few isolated showers around the north tropical coast and through parts of south-east or coastal Queensland as well. But otherwise fine, dry, warm and sunny for many of us. Brisbane, 24 °C.
Moving down into New South Wales and what has been a big few days of weather. Thankfully it's all gone by Friday, just see some isolated coastal showers offshore, but generally south-westerly winds will keep us dry and mostly sunny for much of the state, but we will see partly cloudy conditions for many of us. Sydney, drying out at 20 °C with lots of sunshine. Canberra, 18 °C after a cold, chilly start and lots of sunshine there as well.
Moving down into Victoria, those coastal showers will continue along much of southern parts of Victoria. While it will be fine and partly cloudy through northern parts of the state. We could see a few showers develop through the Mallee and Wimmera later in the day. These showers will be hit and miss and light, so we're not expecting much with it, but eastern parts of the state should remain fairly dry. Partly cloudy conditions for much of the state. Maybe a bit more cloud in the west and south. Temperatures generally in the mid to high teens. Melbourne, a few showers and 17 °C.
Moving down into Tasmania and they’ve missed most of the big weather this week. They will see showers become common across western parts of the state as we move through the afternoon, and evening hours, remaining fairly dry as you can see here through eastern areas. Temperatures a little bit warmer than we have seen the last few days in the mid to high teens. Hobart, looking at a cloudy 17 °C.
Moving up into South Australia and we can see the weather has cleared much of there as well as they'll be under that high pressure system, though we will note a few showers through south-eastern parts of the state and maybe even up into the Mount Lofty Ranges as well, but most of us should remain fine, dry and sunny right across the state. Partly cloudy conditions and mild across the north as you can see there, temperatures in the twenties, where we have, mid to high teens through southern parts of the state. Adelaide itself looking at a partly cloudy 16 °C.
Then moving over into WA on the other side of the high. They're going to see temperatures warm up as those northerly winds drag warmer air into the southern parts of the state, remaining fine and dry for many of us as well. But we will be watching a front approach the south-western capes late in the day, and into Friday night. We could see a few showers develop there around Bunbury and Perth. Perth, fine and sunny day, but maybe a late shower or two and 26°C. While further north, warm, dry and sunny weather continues there.
Finally across the tropical north, continuing those cooler conditions through central parts of NT. As you can see temperatures in the low twenties there, warming up as we move further north and then continuing that, hot and sunny conditions across the Top End and the Kimberley with temperatures in the mid to high thirties, maybe just a chance of an isolated shower or storm as well. Pretty hot one in Darwin on Friday, 35 °C and partly cloudy skies.
