Hello, Miriam at the Bureau with your national weather forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday the 23rd of September.

Taking a look at our weather map for tomorrow, we can see a large high-pressure system strengthening to the south of the Australian continent. This system is going to bring a lot of sunshine and fairly settled weather to much of the country. However, we will see some stronger winds pushing across parts of northern Australia and some warm weather really building along the west coast.

Further east, we have a low-pressure trough through Queensland, which will help to generate some showers for the northeast. Showers will continue in the southeast as well, as yet another cold front approaches Tasmania.

In Queensland tomorrow, a low-pressure trough lying across northern inland parts of the state will generate isolated showers across northern and eastern districts, with generally low rainfall totals expected. A windy southerly surge will push up the southeast through the day, so we could see some strong wind warnings for areas around K'gari and to the south. Generally, we are looking at dry and mostly sunny conditions through much of southern and western Queensland. For Brisbane tomorrow, expect a partly cloudy day and a top of 25°C.

In New South Wales, there is a chance of morning frost across southern parts of the state, followed by a cool and mostly sunny day. Southerly winds pushing up will make some of these temperatures feel a little cooler. Partly cloudy conditions are expected about the northeast coast, with a few isolated showers generally easing back later in the afternoon or evening. For Sydney, we're heading for a partly cloudy day and a top of 19°C. Down in Canberra, after morning frost, it will be partly cloudy with a top of 17°C.

In Victoria, there is a chance of morning frost across some northern parts of the state. Expect partly to mostly cloudy conditions throughout the day, with isolated showers on and south of the ranges. Rainfall totals will generally be low. For Melbourne, we are looking at a shower or two and a top of 18°C.

In Tasmania, partly cloudy skies are expected, with a few isolated showers through the east and more scattered showers across the west of the state. Another 10 to 20mm is possible. Westerly winds will continue across Tasmania and may be strong and gusty at times. For Hobart, expect a cloudy day with a top of 17°C, but stronger winds could make it feel a little cooler.

In South Australia, morning frosts are expected across some of the southern agricultural areas, along with morning fogs across parts of the Eyre Peninsula. This will clear to a partly cloudy day through the south, with a few isolated showers across the lower southeast and low rainfall totals expected. Inland areas will be drier and sunnier. For Adelaide, it will be partly cloudy with a top of 18°C.

In Western Australia, a dry and mostly sunny day is expected across the state. Very warm conditions will continue to build along the west coast, through parts of the South West Land Division, and even push along the south. Temperatures will be 5 to 10°C above average. Below average temperatures are expected across parts of the interior and north, but a strong easterly wind surge will continue across northern parts of the state, generating elevated fire dangers in many areas, including extreme fire dangers for parts of the northern Pilbara. For Perth, it will be a sunny day with a top of 28°C.

In the Northern Territory, generally warm, dry, and sunny conditions will prevail. It will be windy at times, with east to south-easterly winds remaining fairly strong, particularly through the central and southern parts of the territory. This will elevate fire dangers in many areas, with extreme fire dangers forecast for the Barkly North District and around the Darwin and Adelaide River fire weather district. For Darwin, expect a sunny day with a top of 36°C.
