Hello from the Bureau here with your national weather forecast for tomorrow. So that's Friday, the 19th of September.
We'll start off by taking a look at tomorrow's weather map. And the key features are a series of cold fronts and troughs that are expected to move across south-eastern Australia. And these are going to direct really gusty and warm northerly winds ahead of it, but also bring this instability with hit and miss showers and storms. And then this cold front bringing much cooler conditions with showers, small hail and possible storms as well. Out west, however, this ridge of high pressure extending into the interior bringing generally dry and settled weather apart from just a few coastal showers.
So let's move around the country, state by state, starting with Queensland. Now during the morning, we are expecting some fog patches through eastern districts and some scattered showers as well about the north-east tropical coast. But it's the instability through western and central parts bringing these hit and miss showers and storms, including across inland parts of the south-east coast. Now there is the potential for severe thunderstorms through this region. And if you are wanting more information, we have created a separate, dedicated severe weather video that you can access via our web page or social media channels. Now for Brisbane, we are expecting some fog patches about the western suburbs and the risk of a shower most likely during the night, a top of 28 degrees.
Heading into New South Wales, it's going to be a warm day with these hit and miss showers and storms through western and central parts that will gradually extend eastwards in towards the ranges and then towards the coast during the evening. Now severe thunderstorms are possible again through the south-east and across northern parts. So check out that severe weather video if you're wanting more information. Now for Sydney, a mostly sunny morning will follow with some clouds increasing with showers possible during the afternoon and evening. A top of 25 degrees, while for Canberra a really frosty start, then showers developing during the afternoon. A top of 18.
Moving into Victoria, it is going to be a very windy day with these hit and miss showers and storms during the morning and then more widespread showers pushing into the south-west with the passage of this cold front and even some possible small hail and storms again about the south-west coast. Now damaging wind gusts are possible about the ranges of Victoria, but also through the Melbourne metropolitan area. So again, if you're wanting more information, head to that severe weather video. Now for Melbourne, it's going to be a windy day with a risk of showers during the morning, but then those showers becoming more frequent during the evening with the passage of the cold front, a top of 22 degrees.
Heading down in Tasmania, showers about western and northern parts, but those showers are expected to become more statewide during the evening as that cold front passes across. For Hobart, a cloudy day with showers, a top of 18 degrees.
Heading into South Australia, we've got these hit and miss showers and storms through northern and eastern parts, but then more showers developing through southern parts during the afternoon and evening with the passage of that front. Now there's even the risk of small hail and gusty storms about the very far south-east as well during the afternoon or evening. For Adelaide, a partly cloudy day with showers during the afternoon or evening. A top of 19 degrees.
Heading over to WA, now there are a few showers, very light, just about the coastal fringe in the south, but also through central and southern parts of the South-West Land Division. As we head further inland, however, much more dry and settled weather. For Perth, possible fog patches about the hills and the risk of a shower, a top of 21 degrees.
Heading up into the tropical north, just some isolated light showers across the Top End, extending down into the interior as well. For Darwin, a possible light shower and a top of 33 degrees.
