Familiarise yourself with the Bureau's new look website before it's launched on Wednesday 22 October 2025.
For more than a year, beta.bom.gov.au has been sitting side by side with our current site bom.gov.au. We have gradually been redirecting pages to the new website.
Our new website is secure and resilient, and it continues to deliver trusted services to all Australians. The new website has been designed in consultation with the community and our customers to make sure it delivers the information and benefits that people want and need.
What’s new
The new website has improved accessibility and navigation, customisation and responsive design.
Navigate some of the new features by:
- exploring the new website from your mobile, tablet or laptop
- choosing the types of weather that you want to see in the new weather map
- saving a list of your favourite locations
- customising your home page experience
- searching for your favourite page or resource.
You can learn more about new features and improvements on the Website help page.
Search
Use the search function to find what you need. Search results will help you find content on both the new and legacy website. Some links will take you back to the legacy site.
To try it out, search for your location on the Rain radar and weather maps page.
New weather map
A new weather map has been designed and built to perform at higher traffic levels, while ensuring the importance of visual presentation and functionality. To find out more about the map, see Explore our new rain radar and map viewer.
Favourite locations
The new website also gives you the ability to save your favourite locations and settings, just like the BOM Weather app.
Work in progress
We’re still building some pages of the new site. Some pages will remain with the Bureau’s legacy website.
If a legacy page has a new website equivalent, it will be redirected at launch. Other pages on the new website will have links back to the legacy website.
