  • host Indigenous Weather Knowledge on our website
  • progress our Reconciliation Action Plan and Indigenous Employment Plan
  • offer rewarding career opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • have a First Nations Office to promote and support reconciliation and employment programs, and provide professional and cultural support
  • support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to access and use our products and services
  • work to uplift our cultural capabilities.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees can access:

  • support to assist your transition into the Bureau
  • an Indigenous Graduate Pathway program
  • a senior mentor to assist with career guidance
  • ongoing career development opportunities through the Bureau and the Australian Public Service Commission
  • opportunities to work directly with Indigenous communities and stakeholders
  • an Indigenous Employee Network within the Bureau and across the Australian Government.

Reconciliation Action Plan

Indigenous Graduate Pathway

We offer graduate opportunities through Australian Public Service graduate programs. This includes the Indigenous Graduate Pathway.

Indigenous Apprenticeships Program

We offer entry level opportunities through the Indigenous Apprenticeships Program, administered by Services Australia. 

The program is a pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to start their careers in the Australian Public Service (APS). See the Services Australia website for details.

Affirmative measures and identified positions

Our workforce delivers products and services for all Australians.

Affirmative measures apply across most job vacancies. We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply for these roles.

We also advertise identified positions. These are only for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Cultural identity, knowledge and connections are desirable for these roles.
